Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument has reopened, and it makes for an epic family hike! The monument features a slot canyon, stunning tent rocks, and a small human-formed cave. The magnificent region has been significant to the ancestral pueblo people for thousands of years.

As a UNM alum, I’ve been to my share of Lobo football games. But, going with kids is a whole new, exciting, and fun experience that brings a fresh perspective and a sense of nostalgia. This year, UNM football is offering new incentives in efforts to become a more family-friendly activity to be enjoyed by all New Mexico families.

The first time I attended a New Mexico United game, it was for a fundraiser and team-building night with my son’s soccer team. Well, now we’re hooked. These games are so, so fun.

My budding soccer players have definitely increased my interest in the sport, and now I’m a full-blown fan of our amazing local team. My little goalkeeper knows the goalies by name and screamed so hard that he lost his voice during a recent game that ended in penalty kicks (and our United came out on top!).

Parenting is an amazing journey filled with many ups and downs. The love and support of our children, partners, families, and everyone in our circle make it much more manageable and often just wonderful!

However, there are times when a relationship comes to an end no matter how hard we try, how much time or effort we put in, and how much love we have for someone. When the relationship ends between parents, not only are you dealing with a breakup, but you also now have to face a new reality: single parenthood.

Don’t get me wrong; I love my career, but working 40 hours a week with two little boys at home required a few lifestyle changes. Here are a few things I’ve given up as a full-time working mom to prioritize my family.

After the Albuquerque Aloft event where balloon pilots inflate and launch their balloons from school locations throughout the city, my toddler was convinced that there were hot air balloons at my older son’s elementary school every day. On more than one occasion, we checked the school’s field to make sure he wasn’t missing the “BIG Balloons!”
