Mother’s Day is right around the corner. That one day of the year when you are spoiled and woken up with hugs and cuddles from the little humans you created. They offer little hand-crafted creations and a delicious breakfast in bed.

Our little humans love being independent, but it can be challenging for them to make something for mom completely on their own.

So, we are creating a special menu for Mother’s Day so those tiny hands can work confidently and independently and the adult assistant can simply prep for the star chef.

Mom, your job is to select your choice of breakfast from the menu and pass on the rest to the kids.

Mother’s Day Menu

Mother's Day BreakfastFor the moms with a sweet tooth, pick one of the following options . . .

The “I Love Mom” Potion

Ingredients:

  1. Plain yogurt
  2. Mixed berries
  3. Chocolate chips
  4. Granola
  5. Any flavored syrup

How to make it:

  • Take a small clear glass or jar.
  • Spoon a small portion of the yogurt into the jar.
  • Sprinkle granola and some chocolate chips.
  • Layer more yogurt.
  • Cover with some berries.
  • Repeat the layers till you reach the top.
  • Top it with lots of berries and drizzle your syrup all over.

Mother's Day BreakfastSweety Pie

Ingredients:

VARIATION 1

  1. Whole pita bread
  2. Peanut, almond or nut-free butter
  3. Jelly of choice
  4. Berries and bananas

How to make it:

  • Take a whole round pita bread.
  • Spread on your nut or nut-free butter.
  • Spoon tiny portions of jelly of choice (can be more than one kind).
  • Decorate with berries and bananas.
  • Cut into pie slices and it is ready to serve.

  1. Whole Pita Bread
  2. Nutella
  3. Marshmallows
  4. Strawberries
  5. Crushed Graham Crackers

How to make it:

  • Take a whole pita bread.
  • Spread generously with nutella.
  • Sprinkle crushed graham crackers all over.
  • Decorate with marshmallows.
  • You can add a few strawberry slices.
  • Cut into pie slices and it is ready to serve.

Mother's Day BreakfastThe Sleepover

Ingredients:

The Base

  1. 1/2 Cup rolled oats
  2. 1/2 Cup milk of choice
  3. 1 Tablespoon maple syrup or any sweetener
  4. 1/4 Cup yogurt
  5. Toppings of choice

Option 1: Shredded coconut, almond slivers, chocolate chips, maple syrup.

Option 2: Peanut butter, jelly, banana slices, maple syrup.

Option 3: Chopped apples, crushed pecans, a sprinkle of cinnamon powder, maple syrup.

Option 4: Make it your own! Pick combinations of mom’s favorite fruit, her choice of nut or nut-free butter, chocolate chips, sprinkles, and/or some maple syrup.

How to make it:

  • In a ready-to-serve jar, mix all the ingredients of the base together the night before. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • In the morning, add your choice of toppings.

Cat Smackers

Ingredients:

  1. Plain or apple cinnamon rice cakes
  2. Peanut butter
  3. Pretzel sticks
  4. A few blueberries, banana slices, and strawberries for decoration.

How to make it:

  • Take a rice cake and generously spread peanut butter.
  • Slice strawberries into half slices and place them as ears.
  • Place 2 banana slices towards the lower center of the cake.
  • Add a blueberry in between the banana slices (dip it a little in peanut butter to make it stick well).
  • Add 2 more blueberries between the strawberry ears and banana slices for eyes.
  • Add 3 pretzel sticks on each side for whiskers.

I Loaf You

Ingredients:

  1. 2 bread slices
  2. 2 tablespoons ketchup
  3. 2 tablespoons whipping cream
  4. Salt and pepper to taste
  5. Thinly cut tomato slices
  6. Cheese slice (optional)

How to make it:

  • In a small bowl, mix in the ketchup, cream, salt, and pepper.
  • Spread it on both sides of the bread.
  • Add the thinly sliced tomatoes.
  • Add a slice of cheese.
  • Close the sandwich. (Don’t worry about cutting the sides. Mom absolutely loves side crusts. She eats them every morning after you leave for school.)

Ingredients:

  1. A croissant
  2. 1 Tablespoon hummus
  3. Handful of mixed greens
  4. 2 thinly sliced tomatoes
  5. 2 thinly sliced cucumbers
  6. Feta cheese crumbles
  7. Salt and pepper to taste

How to make it:

  • Cut the croissant in half.
  • Spread the hummus nicely.
  • Layer the mixed greens.
  • Alternate slices of tomatoes and cucumbers.
  • Sprinkle salt and pepper.
  • Generously sprinkle feta cheese all over.
  • Close the sandwich. You can stick a toothpick to hold it together.

Mother's Day BreakfastShe Hulk

Ingredients:

  1. Sourdough bread or any bread of choice
  2. Avocado, sliced or mashed
  3. Salt and pepper to taste, or Everything but the Bagel Seasoning

How to make it:

  • You can toast the bread or leave it as it is.
  • Layer the avocado on the bread.
  • Add salt and pepper or the seasoning.
  • You can also add sliced baby tomatoes, feta cheese crumble, and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil as a variation.

Mother's Day BreakfastImpress mom with your breakfast creation and don’t forget to give her lots of hugs and kisses. Ask your adult assistant for help or even ask mom to prep a few items before bed the night before. She won’t be able to tell what you are making!
