We are incredibly passionate about helping Albuquerque moms connect with one another in the community. It’s no secret that this motherhood journey is unique, and having people to turn to, talk to, and share experiences with can make all the difference in the world. If you’re new to the area, new to being a mom, or just want a way to connect with others close to where you live, join our Community & Conversation Group!
What is the Community & Conversation Group?
It’s an online (private) Facebook group that will allow moms to connect, ask questions (mommy or non-mommy related), discuss local happenings, and attend events like playdates and meet-ups. For moms not on Facebook, there’s an email list to keep them up-to-date on all the event dates and locations.
How do I join the group?
The group has a private Facebook page that you can add yourself to, and an admin will approve you.
We know lots of people are not on Facebook. So while you may miss out on the discussion in the private group, we’d love the chance to invite you to playgroups and meet-ups. So if you want to be in the know about when and where those are happening, you can sign up to receive email updates at the link below.
When and Where Will Events Be Held?
Events will be announced within the group and via email. As the leaders for the group plan events, they’ll announce the locations, days, and times. So, add yourself to the Facebook group and/or email list, and don’t forget to invite/add your friends as well! Our goal is for this group to organically grow over the course of the next few months. We will always be adding new members and anticipate some great involvement in our community!

Alyssa is originally from a rural Amish community in Illinois but pursued her love for adventure as a full-time RVer traveling in her camper across North America before moving to New Mexico just before the pandemic hit. As a self-proclaimed "Jill of all trades, master of none," she has run her freelance writing business for over a decade, primarily writing articles for magazines and websites in diverse industries. Alyssa gave birth to her son, a "pandemic baby," in April 2020 and is so grateful for the connections she has found through ABQ Mom as a new parent. She is now navigating the insane world of toddlerhood and loves introducing her little guy to her passions of hiking, rock climbing, music, art, animals, and travel.Leigh is a new-to-New Mexico mom. She moved from the humidity of South Carolina to Albuquerque near the end of 2018 with her motorcycle enthusiast husband, adorable, curious toddler, and two large lap dogs. They enjoy taking the dogs for walks and exploring the area. Leigh has a background in elementary education and is lucky to be able to stay home with her daughter. She also works with Usborne Books & More and strives to promote literacy using fun, engaging, interactive books. Leigh enjoys meeting new moms and going to new places by helping to organize play dates for our Community & Conversation Group!
Rachel was born and raised in New Mexico and on the neighboring Navajo reservation until she was 14. She then attended high school in Connecticut but returned to New Mexico for college because the mountains will always be home for her. She met her husband while working at Dion’s and attending UNM. They married in Tijeras, NM in 2014 and welcomed their first son in 2016. Their second son arrived in 2021 during the pandemic. Rachel is currently the Community Engagement Coordinator for ABQ Mom and Head Community Leader for the Community & Conversations Group. She is also a full-time stay-at-home mom and a new homeschooling mom. When she is not busy organizing playdates and meet-ups for local moms, you can find her at a yoga class, crafting event, or on a dusty trail run. Since entering motherhood in 2016, Rachel's been most passionate about bringing moms together in a safe space and being the mom friend to others that she wished she had when she was a newly minted Albuquerque mom. Sara was born and raised in the NE Heights of Albuquerque, NM. She married her stud muffin husband James in 2015 after a short 11-year courtship. Sara and James welcomed their amazing son in 2016. When given the opportunity to stay at home with her new baby or return to work, that handsome little genius won and turned Sara into a full-blown SAHM. Before taking on her most challenging job of “mama,” Sara enjoyed her life as a Certified Health Education Specialist. Sara enjoys walks by the Rio Grande, playing tennis, binge-watching great TV, wearing sweat/yoga pants as much as possible, eating all the food (especially all the carbs), meeting other moms to share war stories and advice with, and spending quality time with her boys! Sara is honored to be one of the leaders of our Community & Conversation group.Sharada was born and raised in Albuquerque. She left for college in Chicago to study chemistry and also lived in San Francisco with her husband for a while before they decided to move back to Albuquerque in 2017. She worked in Biotech before becoming a stay-at-home parent to her now 4-year-old daughter. She is a lifelong vegetarian and enjoys cooking and trying new foods and restaurants. She loves living in New Mexico and looks forward to hosting events to help other moms find community here. Sharada serves as one of the leaders of our Community & Conversation group.
Us mom’s need to stick together I love checking the activities you post. Thank you for making a page that gives us all a place to check for activities to do
You all sound so amazing and I hope I get to meet each of you I definitely need more mom friends since I moved back here last year I don’t really have many friends and being a single stay home mom can be hard with 4 kids and no family so I would really like to meet as many other moms as I can.
