The excitement of meeting a new baby is like no other. They are so tiny and squishy, and they make the cutest little noises. You become overwhelmed with joy to be able to hold this tiny miracle that you’ve been waiting to meet for the past nine months. But is holding the baby going to be the most helpful thing for the new parents? Probably NOT.

I think it is important that we normalize being able to do chores around a house that is not ours, especially when a big life event happens. Bringing a new baby home can be stressful for the family, then adding visitors can be more of a burden. No one wants to be a burden, so I am here to share some tips that are super helpful to becoming the perfect guest.

Bring prepped meals.

Do you have a recipe you love to make? Make it for the family. Providing a meal or two can be extremely helpful as the new family adjusts to their new routine. Here are some easy recipes from the blog you can try.

If you are out and about, you might want to check in with the family to see if they need you to pick up anything for them.

Help with chores around the house.

This one is a tricky one depending on how close you are to the family. However, this can really provide some relief to the family if you are able to help with some chores around the house. I know this can feel a bit awkward, but I have no doubt the family will be extremely thankful. I put together a list of chores you can use to help get you started.

Give them a night off.

Offer to give the parents a night off to go grab a bite or simply to run some errands while you watch the little one.
