Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron

Past and present horse girls rise! This movie was a STAPLE in my household growing up. We watched it so much on road trips that we had the dialogue and the soundtrack memorized. This movie has heart, action, and one of the best movie soundtracks EVER.

Where to watch: Peacock, Amazon Prime, and available for rent on YouTube

The Lorax

Okay, so this movie isn’t all that old (I watched it in theatres when I was in high school), but I have found that lots of littles haven’t seen it yet! This movie has an amazing cast (hello Zac Efron, Danny Devito, Betty White, and TAYLOR SWIFT!). The music is catchy, and the message is important.

Where to watch: Peacock, available to rent on Amazon Prime and YouTube

Shrek

Okay, you and I both know that Shrek is a classic. So, let’s share this classic with our kids! The Shrek franchise has been responsible for endless memes and jokes for years. It’s super funny and teaches us to look on the inside. Sure, your kids may impersonate Shrek and Donkey for a few days after watching, but it will be worth it!

Where to watch: Peacock TV, Prime Video, Redbox, Vudu, or Apple TV on your Roku device

The Secret of Nihm

This movie might not be for very little kids, but it’s an action-adventure perfect for kids about 6 and up. This film has some scary elements, but it’s thrilling. The music is beautiful, and the main character is so brave.

Watch for free on YouTube, Pluto TV, Tubi, and Amazon Prime

Last but not least, The Princess Bride. This has got to be one of the most quotable movies of all time. This movie has humor, romance, action, revenge, all of it! It’s a great movie for all ages, but especially for kids 6 and up. This movie has immense rewatch value and is a cult classic.

Where to watch: Disney Plus, available for rent on Amazon Prime and YouTube

Movie night can be a bonding experience, and choosing a movie can sometimes make or break it. Hopefully, I made the decision-making a little easier for all of you. Please share what movies from this list that your family loves!
