During my first pregnancy five years ago, I remember being filled with excitement and overwhelm when it came to maternity clothes shopping. I had no idea where to start! I ended up finding most of my wardrobe in one store and was so happy with what I got. I’m currently expecting, and during my second trimester, I went back to that store to do a wardrobe refresh. I was incredibly disappointed to discover they no longer have an in-store maternity section. It has become increasingly difficult to find maternity clothes in brick-and-mortar stores. Here are a few places you can still find maternity clothes in Albuquerque, as well as some good online options!

Brick-and-Mortar Maternity Shopping
Kohls
Although their online selection is far more extensive, Kohl’s reliably has a section where you can shop for maternity clothes in person. I’ve seen some very cute dresses there, and they always seem to have a great selection of leggings! A quick online search showed that they have tank tops, short-sleeve shirts, and shorts currently in stock here in ABQ. This is a great place to get started on some basics in building a maternity wardrobe!
Walmart
Maybe a surprising spot where you can reliably find maternity clothes, Walmart typically has a decent selection in-store. This is also a great place to check for underwear to get you through your pregnancy, as well as maternity/nursing bras. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, check online to see if another local location has what you had in mind.
Other Chains
Shopping at Ross and TJ Maxx can be hit or miss; I feel like I typically can’t find what I want if I’m looking for something specific, but I always find something cute I didn’t know I needed! Although they don’t have an extensive maternity section, it’s worth checking in to see what you can find. Another place to check is Macy’s. Like most other places, you can find far more options online, but they do carry some options for moms-to-be in store.
Secondhand
One of the best ways to find maternity clothes in brick-and-mortar stores is thrifting! Sometimes you may have to visit a couple places, but it’s worth shopping around. Other Mothers is a thrift store specifically geared towards children and mothers, so this is a great place to get started. Savers and Goodwill are also worth checking. Inventory will vary, but there’s a good chance you’ll find something. There’s also a Mommy’s Market pop-up event that takes place annually in September that includes maternity clothing options.
Online Maternity Shopping
Old Navy
I’ve purchased some of my favorite maternity tops from Old Navy! Sometimes you can find maternity options in-store, but typically the best way is to search online. The filters on Old Navy’s website are very helpful (you can search by trimester, and even nursing), and they have an extensive, reasonably priced selection.
Other Online Options
Target, H&M, Nordstrom, Gap, and J.C. Penny are all stores you can explore online for the styles you want during your pregnancy. I personally am a big Amazon fan when it comes to maternity clothes. The shirts I come back to most this pregnancy are part of a set I got on Amazon–they are soft, comfy, and cheap! This is also a good option for ordering nursing bras and underwear. A good friend of mine also directed me towards PinkBlush Maternity. They’re a little pricier, but you can check for coupons, and they have an online clearance section.
Secondhand
Facebook can be a great place to find used maternity clothes! Join your local swap/free give page, and be sure to hunt around on Facebook Marketplace, too. There are also online secondhand stores such as ThredUp. They have cheap options, and their website is organized to make it easy to see the clothes, brand, sizing, and price.
Although maternity clothes shopping seems more difficult than it used to be, there are luckily still some solid options, both in-store and online! Also, don’t be afraid to size up regular clothes, or look for oversized/stretchy options in shirts and dresses. There are many different ways you can shop and dress throughout your pregnancy–what matters is that you’re comfortable and happy with what you wear!
