Homebirth Midwives in Albuquerque

There are so many different options for where to birth your baby, including in the comfort of your own home!

While hospital births are typically the default, homebirth can be an amazing option for women with low-risk pregnancies, medical anxiety, quick labors, want an unmedicated or water birth, or who simply want to birth at home.

My third baby was born at home, and it was the most beautiful experience. After a quick labor with my second baby, when I barely made it through the door of the birth center before giving birth, I knew I wanted a homebirth for my third child. I had already had two unmedicated births with no interventions, and I refused to get in a car during labor ever again. So my husband and I planned a homebirth.

Laboring in my cozy home, with my younger children sleeping down the hall, was soothing and familiar. My birth team (a doula and two midwives) helped me when labor stalled, then guided me to the birth tub in my bedroom when it was time to push. After baby was born, I climbed into my own bed, and we woke our two older children to snuggle their new sister and watch as Dad cut her umbilical cord. It was a magical night, everything I imagined a homebirth could be.
