Pediatric Physical Therapy in the Albuquerque Area

There are many different reasons why kids need to see a pediatric physical therapist.

My oldest child was diagnosed with torticollis when he was two months old, likely due to his positioning in utero. Torticollis is when a baby’s neck muscles cause his head to tilt primarily to one side. If untreated, it can lead to plagiocephaly, or a flat head, that requires a cute corrective helmet.

A physical therapist helped stretch my son’s muscles and gave us exercises to work on at home. As he grew over the next year, she helped him develop proper crawling and walking positioning, as well as core strength.

If you have also noticed that your child is delayed in their physical development, or if they have a condition that affects their motor skills, physical therapy may be what they need. Physical therapy can also help with other conditions, like recovering from an injury or surgery.

If your child needs physical therapy, below is a list of providers who may be able to help.
