Valentine’s Date Ideas for Families (Not Just Couples!)

A couple of years ago, we added a family birthday party to our anniversary celebration. It’s such a fun way to include our daughter! I’m a firm believer that time for just me and my husband is important, but it’s also fun and easy to expand traditions and get the whole family involved! Here are some ways you can celebrate Valentine’s Day as a whole family:

  • Scenic drive (Turquoise Trail is a good option near ABQ)
  • Library outing
  • Railyards Market (Valentine’s Market on February 14 and 15 from 10 am – 4 pm)
  • Museum (Explora and the Wheels Museum are both good options for young children)

  • Heart-shaped cooking/baking (plan a heart-shaped dinner of pizza, pancakes, quesadillas, cookies, cakes, etc.)

  • “What I Love About You” dinner (everyone shares things they love about each other)
  • Fondue night
  • Chocolate tasting night (for fancy chocolate, check out the best chocolatiers in town; but it doesn’t need to be fancy—you could just get a variety of candy bars from the grocery store)
  • Mocktail/milkshake night
  • Bake and deliver treats to a neighbor

Crafts/Projects

Activities

  • Family movie night
  • Board game tournament
  • Family picture session (you can stay home or go out, and dress up as fancy or silly as you want)
