Cheesecake, lotion, cookies, makeup, and so much more: I love spending my birthday month redeeming all my birthday freebies and discounts! It’s such a fun way to celebrate and treat myself (or let the stores treat me). Here are a few tips to maximize your freebies:
- Sign up in advance: Most places require that you be signed up ahead of time in their loyalty programs and email lists or on their apps. This sometimes need to be a few weeks in advance, so plan ahead! If you don’t want to clutter your regular email, you can always create an email address specifically for these sign-ups.
- Check requirements: Some birthday “freebies” require a purchase, and some are simply discounts on purchases. Be sure to check the fine print ahead of time to know what to expect! Sometimes they change from year to year as well. Also double check the dates: some start a week before your birthday, some are for your birthday month, some are only on your birthday. Plan accordingly!
- Check with local establishments: Not all businesses advertise that they have birthday freebies/discounts. If you’re going somewhere specific to celebrate your birthday, don’t be afraid to ask if they do anything to celebrate you! The worst they can do is say no.
- Recognize that changes occur: As birthday freebies/rewards are gifts businesses offer, keep in mind that they could change at any time. Even if last year you received a birthday offer from a business, it might look different in future years. There are a lot of factors to this, so always double check your email/app for the reward details!
