21st Century Public Academy was the first official Charter School in Albuquerque, opening its doors in 2000.
21st Century Public Academy is an Albuquerque charter school offering a free, private school-quality education to 1st-8th graders.
They specialize in out-of-school instruction. But what does that mean? 21st Century encourages learning experiences in the community, the city, and the state of New Mexico. Instruction takes place both inside the classroom and outside the classroom. They also offer two Associated Arts courses each semester, including music and media programs.
It is the mission of this school to continually search for positive learning experiences that enrich students and staff. Whenever possible, these lessons will take place in the arena in which they are practiced.
The school serves a diverse population while also maintaining a small class size. At only 80 students per grade level, students appreciate the frequent one-on-one time with their teachers. Parents appreciate frequent communication with the school and multiple opportunities to be involved in their child’s education.
Another highlight is that sports are offered for every grade level, including track and field, soccer, volleyball, cross country, tennis, flag football, and basketball. 21st Century Public Academy has new facilities, including a full-size gymnasium for their students to play in. Throughout the year, they host other events, including a fall festival and talent show.
21st Century recently added a new Superintendent, Eric Tiger, who is sure to keep the school performing at the highest levels. 21st Century has, for a while, outperformed other state and local school districts on standardized test scores.
