Where to Celebrate Dry January with a Mocktail

For the new year, most people will make resolutions that involve getting healthier, and typically, that involves cutting back on alcohol. There seems to be a rise in the popularity of alcohol-free drinks, and as someone who doesn’t consume alcohol, I’m glad more places are expanding their menus in this area.

Where to Celebrate Dry January with a MocktailWhile most restaurants will craft you something spirit-free if you ask nicely, what I love to see is a dedicated mocktail section. Here are a few places in and around Albuquerque where you can get zero-proof drinks all year round.

East Side

Mocktail from Apothecary Lounge

Apothecary Lounge

Located on the rooftop of Hotel Parq Central, this is a great spot for a mom’s night out or a date night. Stunning views, great atmosphere, and delicious food make this place one of my favorites.

Campo at Los Poblanos

Another one of my favorite places for special occasions, Campo takes their seasonal menus seriously, and this includes their drinks. You can sit at the bar and have some small bites or make reservations for their dining room.

Happy Accidents

If you’re looking for something open late where you can let loose, this might be the place for you. They’re open until midnight and have private karaoke rooms. Along with mocktails, Happy Accidents also sells fun mugs.

Gather

You can tell that Gather puts their whole heart into everything they create. Their mocktail menu includes alcohol-free versions of some classic favorites, like an espresso martini and amaretto sour.

Lost Cultures Tea Bar

Don’t let the name fool you, Lost Cultures doesn’t just serve tea. They have a creative mocktail menu with hot and cold drinks, as well as alcohol-removed beers and wines.

M’Tucci’s

A family favorite, we’ve been to almost every location at this point! They have a few zero-proof cocktails, but my preferred drink of choice is one of their fruity shrubs.

Teddy Roe’s

This reservation-only speakeasy is located behind M’Tucci’s Bar Roma. They have a handful of alcohol free drinks to choose from, as well as food.

Volare

Arguably the best views anywhere in the city, this is a can’t-miss on your list of places to try. Volare has a nice-sized list of mocktails at reasonable prices.

West Side

Drinks at 200 Social House

200 Social House

Located in Bernalillo, they have a decent list of mocktails that are fun and creative without being pretentious. The drinks we ordered were well-balanced and flavorful, and the server was helpful in recommending something we might like.

Calavida Cantina

Located right on the edge of Corrales, head here for a casual night out or lunch with the family. Check out their event page as well: they’re occasionally closed for a private event, but they host trivia nights, live music, dance nights, and more.

Top of the Block

The Block seems to have it all: food, books, events, and if you head upstairs to Top of the Block, you can also get a great mocktail to sip on.

So, whether you’re participating in dry January, are sober-curious, or even if you want something alcohol free just because, I hope you find your next favorite drink. Cheers!
