Wheels Museum

I can’t recommend the Wheels Museum enough. It’s run entirely by volunteers who are incredibly knowledgeable and kind, and it features model trains, cars, and everything with wheels!

New Mexico Steam Locomotive
1833 8th St NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102
This fully restored steam locomotive is sure to wow your little one!

Railroad Garden at the ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden 
2601 Central Ave. NW, Albuquerque, NM, 87104
This is probably our favorite place to spot trains, and the model train track is at just the right height for little ones to get in on the action.

New Mexico Rail Runner Express 
Multiple locations
For $10 or less (children 9 and under are free), depending on how far you’re going, take a ride on the New Mexico Rail Runner and enjoy the scenic views of our beautiful state.

Rotary Park
370 Rotary Park Rd, Bernalillo, NM, 87004
Rotary Park features a red caboose near the playground, perfect for kiddos who want to get a more immersive train experience.
