Soccer Shots :: Developing Passion and Skill

Growing up, soccer was my passion.

I began playing at the age of around five. By the time I reached 4th grade, I was completely hooked. Being part of a team, especially with kids from different schools, and running at full speed across a soccer pitch was exhilarating. Some of my fondest childhood memories were made on the soccer field with grass-stained knees and cleats filled with mud.

I naturally want my daughters to enjoy similar experiences in their chosen sports. My eldest, Jo, has already taken an interest in soccer. Fortunately, ABQ Mom gave me the chance to explore a new soccer program in town called Soccer Shots.

Soccer Shots :: Developing Passion and Skill

Soccer Shots is an engaging children’s soccer program taught by fully-trained coaches.

It offers three core programs of skills-based soccer training for kids aged 2 to 8.

Soccer Shots’ training program focuses on developing skills through engaging activities and games. It incorporates entertaining and occasionally whimsical themes to captivate children’s interest during the session.

For instance, in our recent session, the coaches adopted a Firefighting theme. They employed soccer balls to simulate “putting out fires,” prompting the kids to aim at designated targets. They also discussed the concept of courage with the children, emphasizing its relevance both on and off the soccer field.

Our incredibly enthusiastic and well-prepared coaches catered well to the 3 to 5 age group, known for their limited attention span. They seamlessly transitioned to the next activity when the time was up, staying fully engaged by participating alongside the children and demonstrating advanced skills for inspiration.

Soccer Shots :: Developing Passion and SkillCreating safe and positive experiences is crucial when introducing your child to a new sport. And Soccer Shots is dedicated to teaching age-appropriate skills effectively. Beyond that, they educate the parents weekly with their Soccer Island newsletter outlining the week’s character word, soccer skill, and theme. This helps parents better understand the goal of the lesson and even get their kid excited to attend class that day!

We are almost finished with our first session of Soccer Shots, but Jo can’t get enough! We will be signing up for the next session starting this summer. Head over to their website to find a day and time that works for you!

See you on Soccer Island!
