Prenatal and Postpartum Chiropractic Care in Albuquerque

Pregnancy comes with its own set of aches and pains, and chiropractic care is a great way to help take care of these. A chiropractor who specializes in prenatal patients can also help baby get into an optimal position in the womb and can even shorten the length of labor.

When I was pregnant with my first baby, I developed horrible lower back pain halfway through the third trimester. Baby’s head was pushing on my spine. Friends recommended a prenatal chiropractor, who was amazing in helping relieve the pain. Baby was born healthy and happy (and sideways!) exactly on his due date, but after 22 hours of intense back labor.

So, when I became pregnant with my second and third babies, I immediately went to a chiropractor. They helped with my spine and pelvis alignment and babies’ positioning. Both pregnancies were much more comfortable, and my labors were significantly shorter and easier than my first one was.

Why go to a chiropractor?

A chiropractor can help with nausea, reduce the time of labor and delivery, and reduce pain in the back, neck, and hips. Chiropractic care may also reduce the need for pain medication during delivery and may even shorten labor.

During the postpartum period, chiropractic care can help restore your body’s natural biomechanics, especially when hunched over while breastfeeding, rocking, and carrying a newborn. Chiropractors trained to work with infants can even help babies with tongue ties, colic, and breastfeeding struggles.
