As moms, we have the opportunity to build the foundation for reading with our children when they are very young. Babbling with your baby is the beginning of language development. Describing what you see and talking about what you do with your child throughout the day builds word knowledge. Sharing books together in the early years builds the foundation for reading. One great way to share even more books together–storytime events around town!
Storytime is a beloved activity for children of all ages and parents alike. I love storytime because it’s the perfect mix of educational and social activity. Children get to experience new stories, learn new songs, and meet new friends. Our wonderful public libraries, museums, and local bookstores connect our children to our community.
Check out the many local storytime options!
