Books, Pizza, & Baseball, Oh My!

This post is sponsored by Dion's. At ABQ Mom, we strive to work with businesses we feel would benefit our readers.

Warmer weather is here, and there’s no better way to celebrate spring and summer in Albuquerque than with our local favorites, Dion’s and Isotopes baseball!

Dion’s and Albuquerque Isotopes have once again teamed up to provide the community with Club Read. This program, which is already up and running, encourages children to read and then rewards them for their efforts. The hope is that children in our community find a life-long love for reading to match their life-long love of Dion’s pizza and that kooky, adorable Orbit!

As a mom to two young readers, I know it can be challenging to motivate your children to do their nightly reading; however, my kids are very motivated by pizza (the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree). Club Read turns our nightly reading routine into a fun activity and we love to celebrate their Home Runs with a fun family lunch.

Books, Pizza, & Baseball, Oh My!Students in preschool through 5th grade can participate in Club Read.

Between now and July 29, students can print and fill out their scorecard (download here) by reading six books.

Next, students can submit their completed scorecard at any Dion’s location or online. They’ll earn a free slice of pizza and receive their second scorecard.

Your child will read another six age-appropriate books and fill out the second scorecard to hit another Home Run. The second scorecard may be redeemed at the Isotopes Administrative Offices at Isotopes Park (2nd floor, between 10:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday), at the Guest Services Booth during an Isotopes game, or submitted online to receive:

  • A new book
  • One Reserved Level ticket voucher for an Isotopes non-restricted Monday-Thursday Home Game
  • One coupon for a free small drink at an Isotopes Home Game
  • A Certificate of Achievement

Grand Prize

After completing the second scorecard, students will be entered into the Grand Prize drawing where one lucky reader will receive:

  • Four Suite-Level tickets as Orbit’s special guest at the Grand Prize Game
  • Ceremonial first pitch
  • An autographed baseball
  • A custom Isotopes jersey
  • One Baseball Bucks booklet
  • One large Dion’s pizza to enjoy during the game
  • $50 Dion’s gift card
  • $25 Amazon gift card
  • An Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Pro tablet

Happy Reading!
