Congratulations! You are pregnant and expecting a brand new bundle of joy! You are nervous, excited, extra tired, and maybe a little sick. It’s all an incredible part of the process. You are probably trying to figure out what baby items you need, what you don’t need, what to save on, and what to splurge on. You are trying to set up a nursery, or maybe move your older kids’ rooms around to make room for your new little one. If you are like me, you just decided to paint your whole house, tear out your floors, and redo your bathrooms.
I probably just stressed you out. I stress myself out too.
Don’t be mad at me here, but I want to add one last thing to your to-do list. You will thank me later, I promise. I want you to get yourself a photographer. I want you to remember how beautiful this moment is, whether this is your first pregnancy, or your fifth. You are beautiful. You have a beautiful life growing inside of you. There is so much to celebrate.
I have a photographer for you.
She wants to take your maternity photos. She wants to take newborn photos. She wants to be there for every family photo, every milestone, all the happy moments, the bittersweet ones, and all the moments in between.
Kate Buckles has been a photographer in Albuquerque for over 10 years. She specializes in all things family, starting with maternity, and captures every moment from there on. She also has a team of other photographers that you can work with to ensure you find the best fit for you. There are options for photos in studio or outdoors in a location that you choose.
I recently took my boys into Kate’s studio for their very own photo shoot, and it was such an incredible experience. I understand the stress that comes with photos of any kind, and so does Kate. She took away so much of that stress. She sends emails with all the information you need to know, as well as a guide for planning your session.

Having a guide was such a game-changer for me. I’ve done a lot of photos with a lot of photographers, but I have never gotten a guide. It was so helpful. She gives tips for working with your kids and how to keep your kids (mostly) happy during your shoot. She shares stying advice. I always feel so lost when it comes to outfits, so I very much appreciated her input here.
Photoshoots of any kind can feel a little bit awkward.
Kate Buckles understands the importance of building relationships with people. In fact, she’s fantastic about it. She and I connected so quickly, but she was even able to connect with my boys, and that’s not always easy. I have one little guy who can be a grump. He’s very sweet, but very skeptical of people. Kate sat and played with him, worked really hard to connect with him, and got some incredible shots.
Having a great photographer that you truly connect with is such an incredible tool. Growing up, my family never took family photos. I had school pictures done, but that was it. I am so thankful that photographers are so much more accessible now. As I have gotten older, lost loved ones, and been through some difficult times myself, I can appreciate the value of a photo.
As a mom, I know how hard it is to want to have photos taken of yourself. I get it.
I do not look the same as I did at 25. I have had three beautiful children since then, and I am so thankful for them. I can say, confidently, my children do not care what I look like in a photo. Someday, they will want the photos of our family, of their mom, of their childhood. Photos are so much more than just this year’s Holiday Card. They are memories that can be passed down for generations. They are keepsakes. They are ways to remember our loved ones after they are gone.
Someday, photos may be all we have. I know many of us know this all too well.
When your children look at your maternity photos, they are only going to see how beautiful you are, how radiant you looked. They will only feel the love radiating through the photo. They will see their newborn photos and see how tiny and precious they were. They will see family photos and remember the incredible laughs that you had taking them. They will see their senior photos and see the hope and drive in their eyes. You will still see them as they were in their newborn photos. But they will have the photos, the memories, and a physical reminder of the love that is their family.
Schedule the session. Take the photos.
Kate Buckles and her team are truly incredible, and they want to be a part of your village. Let them. You will never regret having beautiful memories of your children growing up. They will be thankful for it too. Schedule with Kate Buckles Photography, and let her help you capture these beautiful memories. Scheduling is easy, and can be done on her website, or through call/text, or email. It will be something that you will be thankful for for so many years to come.
