DESCRIPTION:Join Park rangers and volunteers for a spectacular Dark Sky Event! As an International Dark Sky Park\, Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument is proud to welcome you to the Abó Unit to experience the awe and wonder of the park’s pristine night skies!  \nTo kick off the evening\, enjoy a ranger-led hike to introduce you to the Ancestral Pueblo and Spanish Mission site of Abó. The hike will introduce you to the tapestry of cultures of the Salinas Pueblo Missions and how their interconnectedness continues to shape New Mexico’s central region. After the hike\, spend some time enjoying the park’s dark skies at the Telescope Viewing activity station. Or check out the Dark Sky Photography activity station to learn all about the tips and tricks of taking great photos (with your phone too!) of the dark skies. Select your best photo of the night and Park rangers and volunteers will print out the photo for you to take home as a souvenir!  \nOur Dark Sky Events often feature speakers from partner organizations across New Mexico that introduce you to various topics on astronomy. DESCRIPTION:The Street Cars and Cable Car Shows will be held in the Tram parking lot the third Saturday of the month: May 16\, June 20\, July 18 and Aug 15 from 9am – 12pm. If you are planning to bring your car as a participant\, please arrive between 8:30 and 9am. Parking is first come\, first serve. The event is FREE to attend as a car owner or car spectator.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for Stories Under the Cottonwood at The Rio Grande Nature Center State Park.\nStories Under the Cottonwood is offered at 10:30am on the third Saturday of each month. \nThis is a participatory story session filled with fun natural history facts\, songs\, poems\, and stories for the tall and the small\, especially for those aged 5 to 10 years old. Children should always bring their own adult\, so they can enjoy the fun\, too!  \nAside from the Parking Fee\, there is no additional charge for this program. The Parking Fee is $5.00 per vehicle exact cash (Friends of the RGNC permit holders enter free with valid permit displayed).
