DESCRIPTION:Staged in and around the Rio Grande River\, “Laughing doesn’t need your help” a new ensemble performance manifesting our inevitable movement toward each other\, tenderness\, and meaning. Amid the present moment of climate catastrophe\, rapidly escalating administrative violence\, and widespread anxiety\, a cast of performers are born from a murky collective unconscious into their own looping\, improvised movement cycles that lead\, perhaps inexplicably\, back into joyful\, muddy communion. \nInspired by literary references including Kaveh Akbar’s acclaimed Martyr! and Toni Morrison’s canonical Beloved一as well as ongoing conversations with local queer\, melanated\, and allied creatives一this contemporary dance project envisions a cosmic pull toward connection\, even when relief from everyday struggle feels inconceivable.

Kids can get their face painted and adults with an ID can order a drink from the variety of bars around the Garden. Plan for a relaxing time in one of the city’s most beautiful settings as the entire Botanic Garden will be open to experience. \nTicket Prices:\n\nAdult: $15\nSenior: $7.50\nYouth (age 3-12): $7.50\nChild age 2 and under: Free\n\nNMBPS members 50% off with valid ID. \nGet tickets ahead of time and beat the line. The family can spread out a blanket and grab some dinner from The Shark Reef Café or treats and drinks from a variety of stands. \nGarden Music is fun for the whole family with free face painting located in the Ceremonial Garden. \nEvent Details\nGuests are welcome to bring chairs\, coolers and picnics.
