SUMMARY:Laughing doesn't need your help: An ensemble performance in the bosque
DESCRIPTION:Staged in and around the Rio Grande River\, “Laughing doesn’t need your help” a new ensemble performance manifesting our inevitable movement toward each other\, tenderness\, and meaning. Amid the present moment of climate catastrophe\, rapidly escalating administrative violence\, and widespread anxiety\, a cast of performers are born from a murky collective unconscious into their own looping\, improvised movement cycles that lead\, perhaps inexplicably\, back into joyful\, muddy communion. \nInspired by literary references including Kaveh Akbar’s acclaimed Martyr! and Toni Morrison’s canonical Beloved一as well as ongoing conversations with local queer\, melanated\, and allied creatives一this contemporary dance project envisions a cosmic pull toward connection\, even when relief from everyday struggle feels inconceivable.

SUMMARY:Keshet Dance Company New Works | Tarrion
DESCRIPTION:Keshet Dance Company New Works presents: Tarrion\, a collaboration between Albuquerque-based multimedia composer Zachariah Julian and choreographer\, Keshet Company Dancer\, and Director of Arts and Engagement Ana Lopes Aréchiga. Tarrion was born from an intense two-week collaborative process during the 2025 Hear Here Festival at Keshet; left feeling like there was more to explore\, the creators expanded into a full-length standalone work. \nSet on the dancers of Keshet Dance Company\, Tarrion is a visceral experience\, a visually and aurally exquisite evening-length contemporary dance work that explores concepts of humanity\, energy\, forces of nature\, and the essence/experience of inconclusiveness. Tarrion magnifies opportunities to evaluate our connection in and between bodies and spaces. \nJoin us in our idiosyncratic world of Tarrion.

SUMMARY:Of Mice And Men at the Adobe Theater
DESCRIPTION:Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is a poignant tragedy that centers around two migrant field hands\, the average looking but smart George and the strong but mentally challenged Lennie who find work on a farm in California during the Great Depression.  Their dream of owning their own farm is shattered when Lennie has an incident with the wife of the boss’s son. (directed by Nancy Sellin) \nSteinbeck’s treatment of prejudice and cruelty against women\, the physically and developmentally disabled\, the elderly\, the poor\, and of animals reminds us of a time when this treatment was normalized and of how far we yet have to go in our society. Although it can be somewhat uncomfortable to hear the language and look at the circumstances\, it is the kind of reflection which can open us up to understanding and compassion for all\, including ourselves.
