SUMMARY:🌲 Women Who Explore 🥾 New Mexico Chapter - Nambe Lake Hike (Santa Fe)
DESCRIPTION:Hike Theme ~ Wear Purple for Peace Day & National Mimosa Day ~ \n\n\n\n\nWWE New Mexico – Nambe Lake Trail – Day Hike \nNambe Lake Trailhead – Santa Fe\, NM \nSaturday\, May 16 from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm (potentially a little later depending on group pace) \nHike Theme ~ Wear Purple for Peace Day & National Mimosa Day ~ \nWe invite you to wear your favorite purple gear on this hike! It also happens to be National Mimosa Day so feel free to bring any mimosa supplies if you would like to partake. The themes are optional. The goal is to have a fun day\, no pressure! \nNambe Lake Trail – Day Hike \n**PLEASE NOTE: EVENTBRITE REGISTRATION IS NECESSARY TO ATTEND THIS EVENT. Responding as “Going” to this event on Facebook does not reserve a spot; you must register on Eventbrite in order to attend this event.** \n—————————————————————————————————- \nTHE HIKE \nJoin us for a challenging & rewarding hike to Nambe Lake. A 6.5 mile trail that begins at the Ski Santa Fe Basin Parking lot and leads through the Sangre De Cristo subrange of the Southern Rockies. If you like aspens and lakes\, this hike is for you 🙂 \nAlltrails has the estimated time for this hike to be 4.2 hours but we will probably take a little more time than that if we have a larger group. This hike is rated “hard” so please use your best judgement. Feel free to reach out to Victoria or Krys if you have any questions. \nThe hike starts with a moderate incline along a well-maintained trail through aspen and pine trees. As we get closer to the lake there is an increase in elevation gain. A nice challenge with a payoff at the end. We will stop at the lake for as long as the group would like. \nMake sure to be there at 9:30 AM MT \nWe will meet at the WINDSOR TRAILHEAD #254\, by the bathrooms at the trailhead. This is to the left of the basin of Ski Santa Fe. When you see the Ski Santa Fe entry/ Welcome sign – take a left and park near the bathrooms. It should be easy to find! \nCoordinates: \n35.79558° N\, 105.80470° W \n—————————————————————————————————- \nWHAT TO BRING \n• List of essentials can be found here if you haven’t been hiking before and would like more detailed info: https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/ten-essentials.html \n• Pack plenty of water\, lunch\, + snacks for along the way \n• Sunscreen\, hat\, and/or sunglasses \n• Dress appropriately\, *bring layers* (i.e. beanie\, fleece layer\, extra pair of socks\, pants if you tend to run cold\, etc) \n• Shoes with good traction \n• OPTIONAL – micro spikes if you have them (just in case) – not required \n• A light backpack for your gear \n• Trekking poles (optional but recommended) \n• A rain jacket or poncho – VERY IMPORTANT as this area can be unpredictable when it comes to afternoon rainstorms \n• A lightweight hammock if you have one for relaxation at the lake \n\nMimosa supplies if you wish to partake 🙂
