The hike will introduce you to the tapestry of cultures of the Salinas Pueblo Missions and how their interconnectedness continues to shape New Mexico’s central region. After the hike\, spend some time enjoying the park’s dark skies at the Telescope Viewing activity station. Or check out the Dark Sky Photography activity station to learn all about the tips and tricks of taking great photos (with your phone too!) of the dark skies. DESCRIPTION:The free Placitas Studio Tour\, traditionally held over Mother’s Day Weekend has now become a three-day event\, beginning Friday\, May 8 and continuing through Mother’s Day Sunday\, May 10\, 2026\, from 10am-5pm all three days. \nNestled in the base of the northern Sandia Mountains\, forty-eight studios scattered throughout beautiful Placitas will host sixty-two artists for its 29th Annual Placitas Studio Tour.  What makes the tour different from other studio tours is\, only artists who live or have their full-time studio in Placitas can participate in the tour. This unique opportunity offers a once-a-year-behind-the-scenes opportunity to visit artists’ studios where inspiration and creativity merge into amazing art. \nCreations in paintings\, steel\, pottery\, glass\, fiber\, mosaic\, ceramics\, jewelry\, sculpture\, wood\, photography\, gourd art\, paper\, metal\, wearables\, mixed media and so much more will be for sale. \nThe public is invited to the free Preview Exhibit at the Placitas Community Library which offers a month-long exhibition featuring work by all sixty-two participating artists.
