DESCRIPTION:The Solid Waste Management Department is celebrating Earth Day by inviting residents to dispose of their electronic waste responsibly and for free at Balloon Fiesta Park’s North Lot. \nIn celebration of Earth Day\, the City of Albuquerque’s Solid Waste Management Department and Keep Albuquerque Beautiful are hosting a Free E-Waste Dropoff Event to help residents dispose of their old and unwanted electronics safely and responsibly. On Saturday\, April 18\, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.\, Albuquerque residents can drive up to the North Lot at Balloon Fiesta Park\, where Solid Waste Management employees and volunteers will unload their items for them—making disposal easy and convenient. This event provides the community with a free\, environmentally friendly way to recycle e-waste\, keeping harmful materials out of landfills and protecting our local environment. \nE-waste\, such as old computers\, televisions\, printers\, and cell phones\, contains hazardous materials that can contaminate soil and water if not handled properly. By participating in this event\, residents can ensure their electronics are disposed of in a way that allows for safe recycling and reuse. DESCRIPTION:Join an Open Space Educator with your little one (ages 0-6) at an Albuquerque Public Library and have fun together making discoveries about the natural world with hands-on science\, story time\, and an art project. Afterward\, you’ll leave with a packet of ideas and activities to continue discovering at home. \nPowerful Pollinators: Families will learn to love the insects of New Mexico by investigating one of the most important roles they have: pollination! The program will begin with a pollinator race illustrating each step of the pollination process. Youth will then complete an art activity focused on butterflies before ending the program with a bee-themed book. \nThere is no fee and registration is not required.
